Performance and Handling
With 127kw at 6,000 rpm on call, the 2.7 litre, DOHC, Quad Cam, V6 170 h.p.engine comfortably handles all the challenges of Jamaica's roads. Among its unique features are zero-maintenance timing chains and specially tuned hydraulic engine mounts assist in reducing vibration and noise. The XL-7 is available in 4 speed electronic automatic transmission, featuring normal and power modes, a lock-up mechanism and Suzuki's Drive Select 4X4 systems which allow shifting from 2 WD to 4 WD on the move (shift-on-the-fly). This allows total control on Jamaica's roads and varied terrain.
Safety and Engineering
Its sturdy ladder frame chassis is fully boxed and designed with built-in crumple zones at the front and rear. It provides superb rigidity and protects under body components. The body features a steel-reinforced passenger compartment utilizing high tensile-strength steel. Doors are equipped with side impact beams. On the inside you are protected by dual airbags and rear door child safety locks. Collision-avoidance features include a power assisted rack-and-pinion steering system and standard four wheel ABS with electronic brake force distribution. It is equipped with front and rear seat belts.
Passenger comfort
It is the only vehicle in its class to offer a third row of seats, allowing seating for 7. The second row seats slide, allowing leg room adjustments and access to the third row. Both second and third row seats split and fold, so a variety of seating and/or large cargo arrangements can be created to suit one's special needs. It is equipped with front and rear air-conditioning, and for your listening pleasure, there is a powerful Pioneer 120 watt per channel AM/FM stereo cassette radio with an 6 CD changer with audio controls on staring column CD player. There are numerous strategically located storage bins throughout the cabin, as well as an extra 12volt accessory socket available for a number of uses.
